Welcome to new and returning students. Hopefully University is an injury free and pain free time, leaving you free to focus on studying (and a little partying). However, for those of you who do experience pain, discomfort or injury we have a great physiotherapy service, that is easily accessible.
Willis Street Physiotherapy run physiotherapy services for all students in the Wellington area, regardless of what institution you study at. We have a campus based clinic at Victoria University Kelburn Campus (adjacent to student health on the ground floor of the student union building) and a clinic at Pipitea Campus (also part of the student health clinic, 2nd floor railway building). We also welcome students at our main clinic, level 9, 57 Willis Street. The main clinic is open Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm all year. Between the sites we have 11 treatment rooms, and therefore we can usually fit in urgent cases the same day, or next day.
To access our student prices, at any clinic, you just need to let us know you are a student.
To make an appointment please call us on Freephone 0800 842749, or you can drop in and talk to one of our receptionists. We will do our best to accommodate your appointment time preferences. Please let us know if you are in a significant amount of pain so we can ensure you get an urgent appointment.
You don’t need a doctor referral, you can just book, but we do work closely with the student health team of doctors, so if you’d rather chat with a doctor first then that’s fine.
If you have any questions then don’t hesitate to give us a call. Please also talk with us if you are concerned about how to pay; unfortunately physiotherapy is not something that is fully funded, and reduced student charges do apply (see pricing section for full details) but we can work with you to arrange a payment plan you are comfortable with. We also work closely with the hardship fund at Victoria, for those who are struggling to meet their healthcare costs (Vic students only).
We find those students who are proactive in seeking help, take responsibility for their own recovery (including taking their exercise programmes seriously) and who attend the full recommended course of physiotherapy treatment, get the best results.
We are very experienced working with students, we understand the pressures that you are under and how that can contribute to pain and discomfort and can be a factor in injury. We encourage you to seek help if you need it.
Kind regards, the team at Willis Street Physiotherapy
